Mrs. Dingfelder

Hola and welcome to Spanish class! I'm excited to be your profe. I joined the Dixon High School staff in the Spring Semester of 2017. I have loved being a Bulldog, and Dixon High School is the best school I've worked at. Before coming to Dixon, I worked as a Middle School, Elementary School and High School Spanish Teacher in New York State. I taught in New York for six years before deciding it was too cold and moving south to be near my husband's parents when they retired. We have two young boys who were both born here in North Carolina. I am actively teaching them Spanish too. This semester I am teaching Spanish for levels 1, 2, 3, and 4.

I grew up in rural Upstate New York and began taking Spanish in the sixth grade. When I was a senior in High School, my family hosted an exchange student from La Plata, Argentina. It was fun to learn about her life and culture and I loved trying to speak Spanish with her. I realized I did not know enough to really hold a conversation, so I decided to continue learning to speak Spanish in college. While in college, I studied Spanish at the Instituto Internacional in Madrid, Spain. I also volunteered to teach with UBECI in Quito, Ecuador. These opportunities shaped me as an educator and I'm so pleased to be able to share what I learned with you all.

I also serve as the Dixon High School Adviser for the National Honor Society. The main objective of the National Honor Society is to serve our community and engage with its members. I spent a lot of my youth serving as a volunteer for many different organizations. I helped with recovery from Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and Hurricane Sandy in New York City, I worked with Habitat for Humanity to build homes, and helped set up and cook for homeless shelters. I believe volunteering is one of the best ways we can learn and grow as human beings and I am so excited to continue to work with students in this capacity too.
