BS English Instructional Technician Specialist (ITS) Graduated from Baker College/Degree from Madonna University in Michigan

Mrs. Alicia Martinez

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I am very excited to be a Pirate and a member of the Swansboro High School staff as an English teacher.

I am originally from Michigan where I earned a bachelor's degree in the Science of Education from Baker College and Madonna University. I'm highly qualified in both ELA and English.  While in Michigan, I worked in a wide variety of schools at all grade levels.  I moved to North Carolina in 2011 and started my teaching career in Onslow County at Jacksonville Commons Middle (7th grade ELA). In 2014 I transferred to Dixon Middle School where I spent most of my time teaching 8th grade ELA.  I have coached softball, track, and cheerleading for 27 years!

I have been married to my husband for 4 years. He just recently retired from teaching and now spends his time umpiring. I have a son, Tad, who attended and played baseball at WVU, and a daughter, Bronte, who has 2 children and a career in medical coding and billing. My grandbabies are Franny and Hattie.

When I am not in school, you will find me on my Skiff with my dog, Gunner, island hopping or just riding up and down the intracoastal, or you'll find me somewhere else near the water.
