I grew up in a small town in Southern New Jersey, where I spent most of my time acting, playing soccer, and writing. I then moved to Central New Jersey where I attended Rutgers University for 6 years. While at Rutgers I worked a few side jobs, and was part of a few honor societies and academic organizations. After I graduated, I moved back home and began working as a Teaching Assistant at a local High School. Then, on New Year's Eve I got married here in Jacksonville while visiting my now husband. I finally moved here July of 2014 after finishing out the school year at my Assistant job. Last year was my third year at JCMS and I truly enjoyed working with all of my students and colleagues. I am so excited to be back working here at JCMS! Bring on the 2017-2018 school year!
My college career began at Rutgers University School of Arts and Sciences located in New Brunswick, New Jersey. While at Rutgers, I was able to be a part of numerous honor societies, work in labs, and meet people from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. I graduated from the School of Arts and Sciences with Magna Cum Laude Honors, and my Bachelor's in Psychology, and a Minor in Education. I then decided to stay at Rutgers for my graduate career. I attended the Rutgers Graduate School of Education, graduating with Honors, with a Master's in Special Education. In the future, I plan on going back to school to receive my Doctorate degree in a field specific to Special Education.
Throughout my college career at Rutgers University I had the opportunity to visit and work in numerous classrooms in the central New Jersey area. Most of my classroom experience is in the Elementary grades, K-6. However, I have also interned at a private Special Education school, working with children ages 5-21 with severe disabilities. After college, I moved back home, where I began to work as a Teaching Assistant at Maple Shade High School. I helped Special Needs children who had various disabilities, both academic and emotional, in grades 7 and 8. I have also tutored children from time to time in the areas of Math, Reading, and Writing. This will be my fourth year here at JCMS and my first year teaching 7th grade. I am super excited to be back! Go Knights!
