Hi! Welcome to 6th Grade Social Studies! My name is Heather Johnson and I am excited to be your teacher. This is my 8th year teaching; 7 of these years have been spent at Jacksonville Commons Middle School, but I am glad to be closer to home!  I love teaching  Social Studies- it is going to a be fun year full of lots of learning, collaboration, and new adventures. I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for us. I cannot wait to learn all about your unique abilities and your fun personalities. Here are a few things about me --

I was born in Buffalo, New York ( and LOVE the Buffalo Bills and chicken wings). I graduated from East Aurora High School, and attended Canisius College. I graduated in 2011, with a degree in Secondary Education & History. I moved to Jacksonville, NC in October 2014 and absolutely love living by the beach! 

My husband, Coach Johnson, and I have been married since July 2020. In my free time, I like to go on walks, sit on the beach, watch football, shop, READ!, try out new restaurants, cook, bake, travel, watch movies, and spend time with family and friends. 

I am so excited to be your teacher this year, and for you to be a part of our class. I hope that you will feel safe, loved, and comfortable enough to be yourself in my classroom. This will be a great year :)
