I was born at the Naval Hospital onboard Camp LeJeune on December 7, 1964. My family moved to Richlands when I started elementary school. Except for my time at college, I have lived in Richlands my entire life. I received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: Computer Information Systems from the University of Mount Olive in May 1994 and a Master of School Administration from East Carolina University in May 2018.
I am married to Melisa Kennedy. She was born and raised in Beulaville. We met and have been together since our senior year in high school. Melisa graduated from East Duplin High School and Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College) in Wilson. She retired from teaching AVID and 7th grade Language Arts at Trexler Middle School in Richlands. She got bored at home and returned to work as a part-time Instructional Coach at New Bridge Middle School.
We have two children, Alex and Megan. Alex married Christina and graduated from Western Carolina with a BS in Business Management. My daughter graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a Master's in Elementary Education. Megan teaches 5th grade in Greensboro, and she is married to Austin.
Alex and Christina had my first grandchild, Rush Alexander Browning.
