Ms. Amy York

I was born in Ohio but spent most of my childhood as a military child. I traveled from East Coast to the West till finally, my dad was assigned Embassy duty and I spent most of my tween and teenage years growing up in Egypt, Nepal, Botswana, and South Africa. In 1991, we received orders back to Jacksonville, and I finished my last two years as a Cardinal.

After graduating high school, I attended Coastal Carolina Community College, then transferred to Campbell University, where I pursued my Bachelor of Social Sciences. After graduating from Campbell in 2005, I was hired to teach at Jacksonville High School as a lateral entry teacher. In 2013 I decided to pursue my Master’s in administration but transferred to the University of Phoenix for a Master of Adult Education and training.

While working on my master’s I raised two wonderful daughters, now 26 and 21. My oldest is following in my footsteps to teach Music and my youngest is still in college. During this time, I took up cheerleading and coached cheer up till 2023.

Finally, I have spent the last 18 years at Jacksonville High School, 17 years of it has been teaching Social Studies. In those 18 years, I have been sent to training and taught Ap World History, Ap US History, AP Government & Politics, and have spent the last two years teaching IB Psychology. I am so excited to be working at the Early College and getting the opportunity to work with the amazing staff and students.
