Mrs. Katherine Coy

Raised in the mountains of Southern California, I have developed a great love of the outdoors and enjoy spending time hiking and camping with my family. I am a proud wife of a United States Marine and we have four children (ages 13, 11, 9, and 5). I have my two daughters attending New Bridge Middle as 8th and 6th graders.

Professionally, I graduated from California State University San Bernardino with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Liberal Studies and furthered my education with a Master’s of Science in Special Education with a focus in Mild/Moderate Exceptionalities, with Distinction. I am taking a break (to focus on my family) from working on my doctorate in Special Education Leadership, in which I am half-way into the program; I look forward to completing the program as soon as my children are older. In the meantime, I am working on my National Board Certification in Special Education, Mild/Moderate Disabilities. I hold the following credentials:

Elementary Education (K-6) in California, Hawaii, and North Carolina. Special Education Mild/Moderate with Autism certification (K-12) in California and Special Education Mild/Moderate General Curriculum (K-12) in Hawaii and North Carolina.

I have taught grades 4 and 5 in the general education setting, grades 3-6  reading intervention classes and ELL instruction, resource ELA and math for grades 2-3 and 6-8, a fully self-contained classroom for students with moderate/severe autism and intellectual exceptionalities (pre-k and K), and most currently, inclusion math and ELA.

I LOVE teaching and am very excited to be working with you and your child this school year. I am dedicated to doing everything thing I can to help your child succeed. If you have any questions or concerns or if your child is having a tough day and you need to inform me of factors that may affect their focus, please so not hesitate to contact me at school or at home. I respond to class, text messages, email, and will return messages as soon as possible. I look forward to us working together!
