Dr. Myron H. Beaty

Grew up in Raleigh, NC and graduated from W. G. Enloe High School. (played football, wrestled, and ran track)

Went to NCSU on Football scholarship.  Graduated from NCSU in 1989 with a BS degree in Botany (cum laude and most outstanding student).

Recieved both MS and Ph. D. degrees from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech.) in 1991 and 1995, respectively. (Expertise in aquatic ecology, nutrient dynamics, and phytoplankton community structure)

Was Assistant Professor teaching biology, botany, environmental science, and ecology courses at Merrimack College and Isle of Shoals Marine Lab from 1995 - 2001.  

Have taught high school in Onslow County Schools from 2001 - Present.  Courses taught include: Biology (Reg., Honors, AP), Chemistry (Reg., Honors), Honors Physics, Earth/Environmental Science (Reg., Honors), Physical Science, Anatomy and Physiology.  Recieved and maintain National Board Teaching Certification since 2005.  In addition to teaching duties, I have coached Football (Assistant and Defensive Coordinator), Track (Assistant and Head Coach [boys and girls]), Swimming (Head Coach).  I am currently still head coach for Richlands High swim team.

Have always enjoyed the outdoors and spend my spare time hunting, fishing, or just relaxing outside.
