Mrs. Lauren Masters
My name is Lauren Masters. I am from the small town of Crestline, Ohio where I spent my whole childhood and graduated high school from. I studied at Ohio State for three years until I married my husband who is in the Marine Corps. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan where I accompanied him on his three-year tour and where I finished my bachelor’s degree in American History from the University of Maryland University College-Asia. Since then we have had three children and have lived in California near the Sierra Nevada Mountains for three years. We now have the chance to experience the East Coast where we recently purchased a home in Cape Carteret, NC and are enjoying the beautiful area hoping to make this our permanent home. My love for learning and expanding my knowledge has driven me to pursue a career in teaching. I have my Master of Arts in Teaching from East Carolina University. I have always valued education highly and want to encourage my students to value it highly as well. I’m looking forward to seeing students’ interest grow as mine has through education.
It is my responsibility as an educator to help students grow into a productive and successful member of society and of this community. In order for students to better understand the world around them and make informed decisions today and in the future, it’s important to understand cause and effects relationships, trends, and movements of our nation’s economic, social and political past. History/Social Studies courses are designed to help students develop the skills necessary to be either College or Career Ready as well as to engender an understanding of the United States history as a reflection of the society and culture of this county. We will explore history through evaluating, analyzing, and interpreting multiple perspectives of primary and secondary sources related to historical era’s, events, and people. Through Common Core, we will focus on learning and using skills such as chronological thinking, historical comprehension, historical analysis and interpretation, and historical research
