Kristen Viszneki

Kristen Viszneki is a proud wife, mother (to Joe and Max), Chorus/Piano Teacher, Drama Director/Founder, and staff member of Swansboro Middle School. She has lived in Carteret County for twenty years.  Mrs. Viszneki's last name is unusual-- she is the only Viszneki in the Southern States!  She enjoys her all of her life roles, including being a teacher, mentor, band mom, music minister, and champion of the arts and young people!

Music and Drama are her passions; she can't enough of Broadway! She directs the Choir at Saint Mildred's Church in Swansboro and works with the students at Jessica's Dance Academy in musical theater and drama.  Chorus and Piano class are offered each semester and are open to all students regardless of experience.  The Swansboro Performing Arts Club was conceived and founded by Kristen Viszneki and this incredible organization continues to offer performance and backstage opportunities to over 170 students each year.

Mrs. Viszneki has directed and produced thirteen full length musicals for SBMS, including "The Music Man, JR", "Once Upon a Mattress", "Willy Wonka, JR", "Beauty and the Beast, JR", "Guys and Dolls, JR", "State Fair", "Fame, JR", "Into the Woods, JR", "The Little Mermaid, JR", "The Christmas Carol", the original "Ella, Ever After", a Christmas Dinner Theater production with five short musicals, the original productions of  "Goodness Knows", "HoliDaze", and "Swansboro Song".  This year promises to bring the SBMS stage more incredible family entertainment with December shorts and a Circus extravaganza in April of 2019.  Zachary Borge and Viszneki love to collaborate with fresh, original musicals allowing students to bring their best to the stage!

Mrs. Viszneki began violin lessons at the age of four (which she studied intensively until age 17); however, it took twenty years to discover piano and vocal lessons with a distinguished faculty at the University of Buffalo in New York. She has sung and played professionally for many years and her greatest scholastic achievement is watching her students grow both musically and academically.  Kristen Viszneki was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, and has lived in Connecticut, New York, and Pennsylvania.  She has been honored as the Sallie Mae Teacher of the Year, Certified Teacher of the Year, Who's Who Among American Women, Who's Who Among American Teachers and as the 2013-2014 Swansboro Middle School Teacher of the Year.  She is editor of the school Yearbook and was chosen as Arts Teacher of the Year for 2018-2019.
