The 2022-2023 school year marks my 15th year in the classroom and my 7th year here at Swansboro Middle.  I was born and raised in Durham, NC, and I graduated from Appalachian State University in 2005 with a degree in middle grades education.  I am certified to teach both ELA and math.  My husband and I have a daughter in 5th grade and a son who is a 6th grader here at SBMS.  When I'm not teaching, I love to spend time with my family, participate in activities at my church, read, cook, travel, and watch Duke basketball.   

In addition to teaching ELA, I also hold several leadership positions here at SBMS.  I'm the 8th grade team leader, a member of our school's leadership team, and I am the coordinator for our beginning teacher program. I am also currently working on a master's degree in school administration at ECU.
