Mrs. Kelsey Torres
I grew up in Cynthiana, a small town in north-central Kentucky. I graduated from Harrison County High School in 2008 and began to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher when I was admitted into Berea College. Although at a young age I used to alternate my desired profession from a teacher to a ballerina or an artist, I always came back to teaching as the answer to my passion for learning and for serving others.
I love reading, writing, and language, so the natural choice for my subject area turned out to be English. After many trips to North Carolina, I fell in love with the state and moved here in early August of 2013 with my husband. In addition to teaching and working with kids, I enjoy spending time with my son, going to the beach, reading, writing, crafts, and zumba.
In February of 2016, I completed my Master's Degree in Education from Walden University.
My husband and I have two children, Paulo age 3 and Eliana age 1. We also have a cat named Mavi and a dog named Buddy.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Berea College in 2012.
This past February, I completed my Master's in Education with an emphasis on Adolescent Literacy from Walden University.
This will be my sixth year teaching at Swansboro Middle School as a 6th grade Language Arts teacher. I am excited to learn and grow as a teacher alongside my students and I believe this will be a wonderful school year!
