Greetings!

My name is Hillary Goodson-Spear and I am thrilled to be part of the White Oak Community!  I am a 2006 graduate of the Oak and was a student of Mrs. Pam Taylor.  I graduated summa cum laude from Meredith College in May 2010 with a Bachelor's of Music in Music Education with a concentration in Choral/General Music and a K-12 License.  I was a NC Teaching Fellow and a Meredith College Academic Scholarship Recipient.  At Meredith, I studied under Dr. Ellen Williams, Dr. Anthony Vaglio, Dr. Jim Waddelow, and Dr. Fran Page.  I completed my student teaching in 2010 under Mr. Mike Gilliam at Middle Creek High School.  After graduation, I taught for 4 years at Richlands High School, where I was the Director of Choral, Theatre, and Musical Activities.  I taught chorus, music appreciation, music theory, and theatre.  I graduated summa cum laude from Liberty University in December 2021 with a Master's of Music in Music Education and Music Studies.

Here at White Oak I am the Director of Choral Activities, where I direct the 3 vocal performing ensembles:  Mixed Ensemble, Belle Voci, and Chamber Choir.  I am also the Director for the annual Spring Musical and advisor to the Tri M Music Honor Society.  I am the 2021 White Oak Teacher of the Year, a 2021 - 2022 OCS Teacher of the Year Finalist, 2017 and 2022 White Oak Arts Teacher of the Year, and 2021 - 2022 OCS Electives and Encore Teacher of the Year.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart and fellow Viking Alum, Scott (C/O 2005), for 10 years and we are the proud parents to future Vikings Mason and Jennie.
