Swansboro High School's masonry program is a class for all students. Our primary goal is to prepare students for a career in the Masonry Industry. All students are given the opportunity to learn how to install masonry units the correct way; True and form to the line, clean back side, and full head/bed joints. As students advance in skill they are given more complex projects to work on. Students are also required to complete the curriculium set by NCCER and are given credentials for the course if they pass all module and performance test. We compete in several contest every school year. Students who are not interested in a career with masonry are also encouraged to take masonry classes. In masonry class students learn how to work with one another to complete the task at hand. Students learn how to read and draw foundation plans. They also learn how to calculate masonry units needed for a project and cost of labor. When students take masonry class they learn much more than masonry, they learn skills that will stay with them in years to come and help them grow as an individual.
