AVID: Advance Via Individual Determination

 AVID is an academic elective, but it is more than a program.  It is a philosophy that

• holds students accountable to the highest standards
• provides academic and social support
• gives students the opportunity to rise to the challenge

Policymakers and school administrators now consider AVID an essential strategy for closing the achievement gap and making the college dream accessible to all students.

Important:  Northside will no longer request a schoolwide 3 inch binder because students will be transitioning to an electronic binder using Microsoft Teams.  Therefore, we are requesting a 1 ½ or 2 inch binder instead of the 3 inch binder (this includes all AVID Elective classes).  Another change will be the agenda/planner; students will have the option of using a physical agenda (the school has provided one to each student) or a digital agenda.  Students will be instructed to use these tools effectively.
