Experience
Since beginning my career here at Onslow County Schools in September of 2011, I have had the wonderful opportunity to be placed in many of its wonderful schools, like Hunters Creek Middle, White Oak High, Swansboro High School, Sand Ridge Elementary School, Onslow Early College, Onslow County Learning Center, Onslow Virtual Elementary and Eastern North Carolina Regional Skills Center along with many others that I have assisted along the way. I am currently at Eastern North Carolina Regional Skills Center, Onslow Virtual Elementary School, and Onslow County Learning Center.
I am originally an Upstate New York native (but not from New York City), for the early part of my life, I lived in the Finger Lakes region up until I went into the US Army after high school graduation. Upon completion of my enlistment in the US Army, I returned to Western New York where I worked as a diesel/auto mechanic for 10 years. Decided to make a life change and a career move to northern New York and went back to school to pursue a degree in Graphic Design at North Country Community College. Then I went on to Visual Arts Education and Instructional Technology Specialist at SUNY Potsdam. While in school, I lived in a quiet small town along the Saint Lawrence River where I spent my time boating, fishing, and hiking. While completing my degree, I worked as a substitute teacher for K-12 Art Education, and Special education, along with a Reading Specialist, and Math Coach at an elementary school, which I genuinely enjoyed experiencing.
After completing my Master’s Degree, I began searching for work throughout the country, which brought me here to Onslow County Schools. My passion for collaborating with teachers and students has formed a great dedication to researching innovative technologies that help save teachers time in and out of the classroom, finding ways to make research and lesson planning easier. A few projects I have been working on are; Microsoft Teams /Office 365, Flipped Classroom basics, Google Apps for Education, I-tunes U for the classroom, smartboard training basic and advanced features, and most recently a Book Study entitled “Sail the 7 Cs with Microsoft Education. I look forward to working with you and please feel free to ask me to assist you with a classroom idea you have.
My hobbies include painting, gaming, and woodworking.
