Hi! I was born and raised in Jacksonville, NC. Crazy I know. My family settled here after my grandparents on both sides were stationed here many years ago with the Marine Corps. Living on the coast, I was a beach baby and love the pool also. I grew up dancing at my mom’s dance studio.(Diana’s Dance Academy) My dad often took me on construction and odds and ends jobs with him and my papa always played music. So, it is obvious I love the arts. I have 5 cats, 4 turtles, and 2 fish. I’ve been married 8 years, but together 15 years. My husband Chris Just bought the business he worked for this year. (Superior Carpet Cleaning) I also teach dance in Richlands every Tuesday.
Since I am a born and raised local, I graduated from Jacksonville High School in 2007. I then began at Coastal Carolina Community College and graduated with a degree in fine arts the following fall. I then transferred to The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham where I obtained my Bachelors in Interior Design. After coming home and beginning to teach dance again I fell in love with being with my students. It was then I knew my heart was meant for education. I finished my MAT in Elementary Ed at UNCW December 2017 (I interned here at BCE) and joined OCS shortly after. After 5.5 years in gen ed I am taking on my passion which is art.
I believe learning never ends. I will be working on National Board Certification this school year. I am currently learning more about my food and environmental allergies to help my health. I am also re-learning how to play violin and learning guitar/bass! I can't wait to share my love of learning with all my students. If you learn one new thing each day, you will rest well in the evening.
