Welcome to Jacksonville Commons Elementary! I am delighted to be the assistant principal at the most amazing school in Onslow County! Our staff thrives to meet the needs of our students. We are currently training our entire staff in AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination. While our goal is to academically challenge our students, we also hope to develop life-long learners.
I began my teaching career in 1995 as a first grade teacher at Morton Elementary. I transferred to Jacksonville Commons Elementary School in 1996, where I taught first grade for three years. I became a stay- at- home mom after our first daughter was born. I returned to the classroom part time in 2004, as a 3rd grade reading teacher at Swansboro Elementary. I also taught 3rd-5th grade reading and was the Title 1 Parent Liaison part-time in 2008-2009 at Swansboro Elementary. I worked as the Reading Specialist at Swansboro Elementary for eight years prior to becoming the assistant principal at JCE. I am truly honored to be working at Jacksonville Commons Elementary as the assistant principal! I am a Data Teams Trainer for Onslow County Schools, AVID trained, UNCW Site Coordinator, JCE's Test Coordinator, and Onslow County's Literacy Administrator of the Year.
I am happily married with two daughters. Our oldest daughter is a Morehead Cain Scholar at UNC-Chapel Hill studying Administration and Policy with a minor in business. Our youngest daughter is a senior in high school. They are both very active in their schools and enjoy traveling in the summer. My husband and I enjoy walking our dogs, Singer and Forrest as well as visiting with our family and friends.
