BA in History with certification to teach Social Studies from UNCW Masters in School Administration from ECU

Mr. Tim Foster

Welcome to Southwest High School, Home of the Stallions. This is my eighth year as principal at SWH. However, I have been a part of the Stallion Nation since the early 1980s. I graduated from SWH in 1987. After leaving SWH in 1987 I decided that UNCW was the place for me. I graduated in 1991 with a BA in History and certification to teach Social Studies. My first three years in the Onslow County School System were spent teaching 6th graders at Hunters Creek Middle. I was fortunate to return to SWH in the Fall of 1994, I taught US History, World History, World Geography and Psychology. For ten years I coached Varsity Boys Basketball and Soccer. In 2000 I decided to return to school and in 2003 I earned my Masters in School Administration from East Carolina. In 2004 I began my career in administration as assistant principal at SWH. I held that position for three years before I returned to Hunters Creek Middle as principal. I spent three years with the Panthers of HCM and in 2010 I was transferred back to my Alma Mater as principal. I am as excited today as I was in 1987 to be at SWH. Once a Stallion, Always a Stallion. Working with and in my community has been one of the most rewarding opportunities I have ever experienced, I am home. I am in my second year on the Board of Directors for the NCHSAA, currently I represent Onslow County as the President of the Onslow County Principal and Assistant Principals' Association. I have been married to Tashia Foster, Data Manager at Meadow View Elementary, for 27 years and we have two sons, Cameron, SWH Class of 2012, current Sales Manager at Bob's Bargain Center, a daughter-in-law, Shelby; and Peyton, a 2018 graduate of SWH. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns, I would love to share the excellence of SWH.
