Welcome to QCES' School Counseling Site!
2019-2020 School Year
I am so excited to be starting my 7th year as a school counselor at QCE! I am looking forward to seeing all of our returning Gators and meeting all of our new Gators! I want to take this time to tell you a little bit about what I offer at QCE.
Classroom Lessons: Every month, I will go into the classrooms to teach a whole class lesson on varying character traits. I go to each classroom, K-3, once a month. If you would like to know what lesson I am teaching in your child's classroom, feel free to contact me.
Student of the Month: Each month, we will have a Student of the Month celebration. Each classroom teacher will choose a student from their class to represent the character trait of the month. The celebration will be mostly held on the last Friday of the month. Students will receive an award and a free Kona Ice Treat from the Kona Ice Truck!
Friday Family Fun Night Bags: We will also continue to have Friday Family Fun Night Bags. These bags go home every Friday with a family DVD, a couple of books, and a treat for the family to enjoy. I just ask that the movie, bag, and books are returned on Monday!
Student Council: I will be in charge of Student Council this year. This is a great opportunity for 4th and 5th grade students to learn and demonstrate leadership skills around our school. Student Council will be in charge of introducing new students to our school by giving them a tour of all of the important areas around the school and taking them to their classroom. We will have a mid-year social for all of our new students to attend. Student Council will run various donation collections throughout the year. I am so excited to lead this very special program for QCE!
Girls on the Run: Girls on the Run will take place again in the Spring for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls. This program teaches girls various character lessons that are important for any girl to know (ie: how to stand up for yourself, being a good friend, how to avoid gossip, etc.) while incorporating healthy living. The program is a 10 week program and we meet twice a week (usually Tuesday and Thursday). At the end of the program, the girls will run a 5K in Jacksonville. If your daughter is interested in being on our Girls on the Run team, be on the lookout for information in January 2020.
Lunch Bunch: We will continue to have Lunch Bunch this year. I will meet with 6 students from each grade level approximately once a month during their lunch time. The students will be chosen by their teachers based on the lesson that will be presented during that session. If you have any questions regarding this, feel free to contact me.
As always, if you have any questions regarding the school counseling program, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 910-326-5115. Looking forward to another great year at QCE!! GO Gators!!
