I grew up in New York and relocated to Onslow County via the United States Marine Corps. I am married with three grown children. In 1995, I began working at Southwest Middle School, teaching mathematics.

After fifteen years, I stepped out of the classroom to be an Instructional Coach for Onslow County Schools. People would always ask me if I missed the classroom because I have always had a passion to teach. Being an Instructional Coach gave me a bigger classroom as I had been afforded the opportunity to reach nearly every school in the County, helping teachers in Elementary, Middle and High School. However, to get my teaching “fix", I started working as a math instructor at Coastal Carolina Community College on Tuesday & Thursday nights and tutoring in their lab on Monday evening. After five years as an Instructional Coach, I returned to the classroom and was fortunate to secure a position back at Southwest Middle. After a few years at Southwest, I transferred to NewBridge Middle School.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Master’s degree in Middle Grades Education from East Carolina University and I am certified through Barton College to teach the Academically and Intellectually Gifted.

I have been blessed to have been the recipient of the Onslow County Teacher of the Year Award, serve as the Project Based Math Coach as well as a local trainer for the Southern Regional Education Boards’ Math Design Collaborative.

Aside from teaching, I also coach wrestling, chess, and am a longstanding member of the Quality Council.
