Mr. Brent Anderson

Brent Anderson began his educational career with the Onslow County School System as a high school social studies teacher. After 8 years at the high school level, he helped open New Bridge Middle School – the district’s first magnet middle school – where he taught 8th grade Social Studies for two years. Mr. Anderson left New Bridge Middle and took a position with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s Performance Based Licensure Program as one of two Southeastern regional coordinators. After serving in that position for a year and a half, Mr. Anderson moved into school administration as an assistant principal at both the middle and high school levels. This was followed by a six-year tenure as the principal of New Bridge Middle School – the same magnet school he helped open six years previously. Mr. Anderson next moved into district-level administration, serving as the Director of Student Services for Onslow County Schools. In this capacity, he worked with the district’s school nurses, social workers, homeless education program, and made recommendations concerning out-of-district and out-of-county requests. Mr. Anderson next worked as the Director of Secondary Services, providing support for Onslow County’s middle and high school programs - a position he held until July 2017.  In August 2017, Mr. Anderson assumed the role of Director of Community Affairs with the Onslow County School System.

Throughout his career, Mr. Anderson has promoted the use of instructional technology in leadership positions at both the school and district levels. He has presented on instructional technology integration at the 2008 through 2015 National Middle School Association/Association for Middle Level Education Annual Conferences, along with various North Carolina state-level conferences.
