Mrs. Melissa Dedmond
My name is Melissa Dedmond and I am the school counselor at Parkwood Elementary School. As a school counselor, my goal is to support the emotional, social and academic needs of our students. I serve students through individual counseling, small groups, and classroom lessons. Every 5 weeks, each class visits my classroom for a lesson. Lessons focus on a variety of topics related to academic, career and personal social success. Individual counseling occurs when students, parents or staff refer. Students in grades 3,4,5 have envelopes in their classroom to fill out if they have a problem they wish to talk about. Small groups will run all year in all grade levels. Students participating will rotate every 6 weeks. My goal is to see as many students in small groups as possible this year! If your child is selected to participate, they will bring home a paper to you. If I can be of assistance to your child this year, please reach out to me at (910) 347-6711 or melissa.dedmond@onslow.k12.nc.us .
I am proud to say I attended Parkwood Elementary and am a graduate of the Onslow County School system. I went on to receive my undergraduate degree in Psychology from UNCW and my Masters of Education in School Counseling from Campbell University.
