    National Pan-Hellenic Council of Jacksonville North Carolina 2024 Scholarship 

    Deadline: May 1st, 2024

    Award Amount: $500

    Eligibility Requirements:

    1.  HBCU Requirement:  Applicant must attend an HBCU.
    2.  GPA Requirement:  Applicant must be a graduating High School senior with a minimum 2.8 unweighted GPA.
    3.  Letter of Acceptance:  A letter of acceptance from an HBCU is required.
    4. Application:  Applicant must submit a complete application by the deadline for submission in order for your package to be accepted. All documents must be included.
    5. 2024 Essay Requirement.  Applicant must submit a 300-400 word essay response, typed on 8.5x11-inch plain white paper, single-spaced and double-spaced between paragraphs.  Please use Times New Roman size 12 font. (2024 Essay Question is on page 3)
    6. Transcript:  Please submit a sealed copy of your official transcript in the original envelope.
    7. Letters of Recommendation:  Please submit two (2) letters of recommendation, one (1) from a high school faculty member and one (1) from an individual in the community.  Letters should be on official letterhead (if applicable), but there is no need to include them in a sealed envelope.
    8. Resume:  Applicant must include a separate resume summarizing his/her employment history, extracurricular activities, community/volunteer service.  Include any awards received for school activities or community/volunteer service.
    9. Photograph:  If selected, a professional head and shoulders photograph (3x5-inch or 4x6-inch) will be required that is suitable for newspaper and other publications.

    Award Amount: $2,500

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • must be at least 13 years old
    • must be a legal resident of the US 
    • Must be currently enrolled in 8th-12th grade

    Nancy Cleveland Memorial Scholarship

    Deadline: May 5, 2024

    Award Amount: $1,000

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • reside in Onslow County, NC, and are legal residents of the United States of America;
    • are currently attending any Onslow County public, private, charter, or home school; and
    • will be attending a university, college, or advanced technical school in the next 12 months.

    Jacksonville/Onslow County Johnathan C. Fulcher Crimestoppers Scholarship 

    Deadline: April 28, 2024

    Award Amount: $1,000

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • Graduating Senior in an Onslow County or a DOD school in Onslow County.
    • Residing in Onslow County.
    • Must be planning on attending a 2- or 4-year college.
    • Planning to pursue a major in Criminal Justice or related field.
    • Students who have already received this scholarship are not eligible to receive it again. It is a one-time scholarship.
      • Children of the Crimestoppers Board of Directors are not eligible
      • Students who have received a full scholarship are not eligible.
    • It is intended that the scholarship be used within 1 year from receipt.

    The Brendan Looney Foundation Military Families Scholarship

    Deadline: May 31, 2024

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    • This scholarship is for Gold Star Children & Siblings, as well as children of wounded warriors or active duty members of the armed forces.

    • Two letters of character reference (non-relative). Form attached.

    WOHS Athletic Booster Club - The Golden Oar Scholarship

    Deadline: May 1st, 2024

    Award Amount: $500 (two awards available for 2 different student athletes)

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    • Participated in varsity sport for at least two seasons, with at least one during the senior year
    • Must be in good standing with the school and eligible for graduation
    • Planning to pursue post-secondary education immediately after graduation
    • Minimum cumulative weighted high school GPA of 3.0
    • Financial need is not a consideration

    Applicants must provide the following to be considered for the scholarship:

    • Completed Applicant Form
    • Completed Coach Recommendation Form (Form should be provided in a sealed envelope or sent via email directly to Mr. Larose.)
    • A 250- to 500-word description of how your athletic experience has impacted your education and/or life (Provide response on a separate, double-spaced sheet of paper.)

    PRETTY Girls Rock Scholarship

    Deadline: April 29th, 2024

     Award Amount: $500

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    • Completed application must be submitted in the year of high school graduation.
    • Official high school transcripts include a least 3.5 years (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior).
    • At least one letter of recommendation.
    • Proof of your enrollment to a 4-year Institute for 2022-2023 school year.
    • Include an essay of no more than 500 words using the explanation of what PRETTY Girls Rock stands for, explaining how YOU demonstrate being a PRETTY Girl.
    • Feel free to include any other information you think is important and should be considered in your application

    NORTH CAROLINA CHILD SUPPORT COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP

    Deadline: April 5, 2024

    Award Amount: $1,500

    Eligibility Requirements

    • At least one Parent must be a member of the North Carolina Child Support Council or a Client of the Child Support Program (either through IVD services or AOC Clerk of Court services).
    • The applicant must be a resident of North Carolina and a graduating high school Senior.
    • Applicant must have been accepted to a school of higher learning.  Specifically, a College, University, Technical or Trade Institute. Applicants need to attach a copy of an acceptance letter. Payment of scholarship will only be made to a school of higher learning.
    • Applicant must have maintained a 2.5 unweighted GPA or above during his/her high school career.

    AKA Sorority Inc, Tau Omega Omega 2024 Mary Gray Brown Scholarship

    Deadline: April 1, 2024

    Award Amount: $1,000

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • Resident of Onslow County
    • College-bound high school senior attending college by winter 2024.
      • All Tau Omega Omega Chapter Senior Debutantes and Escorts are also eligible to apply.

    Scholarship Competition: The scholarship will be awarded, based on the following criteria:

    • Grade Point Average: Verified by official transcript emailed directly from the student's high school counselor to: TOOAKAScholarships@gmail.com
    • Official documentation of SAT/ACT scores: scores must be uploaded from the College Board

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • Be any minority senior attending high school in Onslow (or a surrounding) County, North Carolina
    • Be accepted to an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning.

    An applicant cannot have been a former recipient of this scholarship and must meet the following criteria to be eligible:

    • Applicants between the ages of 17 - 21
    • A family member whose sponsor meets one of the following criteria:
      • Active duty personnel currently serving within Onslow County, Carteret or Craven County
      • Active duty personnel currently fulfilling an unaccompanied PCS tour whose last duty station was in Onslow County, Carteret, or Craven County

    Applying is simple. Just submit the FAFSA form. If you’re eligible, you’ll receive the Next NC Scholarship. There are no additional forms to fill out.

    Award Amount: at least $3,000 for students attending community college and a minimum of $5,000 for students attending a public university in NC.

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    • A North Carolina resident who is eligible for in-state tuition
    • A high school graduate (high school equivalency completers are eligible)
    • From a household with an annual Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $80,000 or less
    • Enrolled in an eligible undergraduate curriculum program for the 2024-2025 academic year
    • Taking at least 6 credit hours per semester (part-time students will receive a partial award)
    • Meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards of the school you plan to attend
    • A student who has completed the 2024-2025 FAFSA, with a resulting Student Aid Index (SAI) at or below 7,500 (once complete, the financial aid office at the college/university you plan to attend will determine and confirm eligibility.)

    Nina McDonald Venters Scholarship Application - Beta Delta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa

    Deena L. Woods Memorial Teaching Scholarship, Inc.

    Deadline: April 25, 2024

    Award Amount: $3,100

    Eligibility Requirements

    1. Must be accepted to a school of higher education, pursuing a curriculum for a Teaching/Education degree, preferably in the area of Early Childhood Education.
    2. Must be graduating from high school during the year applying for this scholarship.
    3. Must have a 3.0 weighted GPA or higher and submit an official transcript with the application.
    4. Must submit a copy of the acceptance letter from the accredited college or university with the application.
    5. Must have three (3) letters of recommendation submitted from references:  Two (2) of the letters must be from a recent (within the last 3 years) teacher or other education related personnel (i.e., Principal, Assistant Principal, Counselor, etc.).  The third letter can be from whomever you choose (i.e., coach, employer, family friend, neighbor, additional teacher, etc.).  Ensure your references know to mail their letter of recommendation by April 25th.
    6. Must complete all requirements of the application, and all application forms must be received (postmarked) by April 25h.
    7. Finalists for consideration will be notified by May 10th at which time a brief in-person interview with the Finalists will be scheduled with the Scholarship Committee.

    Beirut Memorial Chapter 642, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Thomas Craigg Jr. Scholarship

    Deadline: 5pm on April 30, 2024

    To be eligible to apply for the Thomas Craigg Jr. Scholarship the applicant must fulfill one of the following criteria:

    • Be a child, step-child, adopted child or grandchild of a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. A Purple Heart recipient who is not a member of the MOPH can become a member by applying online through the MOPH website: http://www.ncmoph.org or by calling the Membership Department at (229) 733- 6497 Michael S.     • Be a child, step-child, adopted child, or grandchild of a veteran honorably discharged, they must be a dependent. Emancipated children are not eligible and great-grandchildren are not eligible.

      In addition, the recipient of a MOPH Scholarship must meet these requirements:
    • A graduate or upcoming graduate (Senior) of an accredited high school
      or
    • Accepted by or enrolled as a FULL-TIME undergraduate student (12 or more semester credit hours) at a U.S. College, University or Trade School at the time the scholarship is awarded, (graduate students are not eligible)
      and
    • Able to demonstrate the capacity for advanced academic achievement or technical proficiency as demonstrated by at least a 2.75 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) based on an un-weighted 4.0 grading system
      and
    • A citizen of the United States of America.

    A MOPH Scholarship Application must include a completed MOPH Scholarship Application Form and the following supporting materials:

    1. Original, Official High School and/or College transcript, including the latest completed semester or quarter of the current year, home school documentation required. Due to the diversity of grading systems among educational institutions, the MOPH Scholarship Committee will ONLY consider High School or College transcripts based on an un-weighted 4.0 grading system.
    2. Essay of 200 – 300 words (approximately one double-spaced page) on the Subject: “Americanism”
    3. Two letters of recommendation.

    Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Mu Lambda Zeta Chapter 

    Application Deadline: May 1, 2024

    The scholarships, in the amount of $500 and $1000, are available to a graduating high school female senior residing and attending Camp Lejeune, Jones and Onslow County schools. These are one-time scholarships 

    • Criteria for the scholarship are as follows:
      • Applicant must be a graduating high school female senior
      • Applicant must be a resident and attend school in Camp Lejeune, Jones or Onslow County
      • Applicant must rank in the top 20 percentile of her class
      • Applicant must plan to obtain a Bachelor or Associate Degree from an accredited college or university
      • College/university acceptance letter(s)
      • Community service and involvement are a plus
      • Proof of enrollment at an accredited college or university is required before the scholarship award is disbursed

    Sponsors for Academic Talent, Inc. Scholarship

    Amount: $750 or $1,500

    1. Maintain a 3.5 GPA on the weighted scale (must 3.5 or higher by end of 1st semester senior year)
    2. Score 1100 (composite of critical reading and mathematics scores only) on the SAT Test or ACT Composite score of 23 or higher. 
    3.
    Attain a College Preparatory Diploma and meet requirements for NC Scholars Diploma.
    4.
    Complete community service hour requirement for either the $750 or $1,500 scholarship.  Students cannot receive both awards. 

    To obtain a $750.00 Scholarship, you must: 

    1. Perform a minimum of 75 hours of community service
    2. Complete 20 hours in the senior year (can start on 1st day of summer break prior to senior year)
    3.
    Perform a maximum of 35 church and school hours
    4.
    Perform a minimum of 40 hours at approved agencies 

    To obtain a $1,500.00 Scholarship, you must:

    1. Complete 20 hours in the senior year (can start on 1st day of summer break prior to senior year)
    2. Perform a minimum of 100 hours at approved agencies
