What is AVID?
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a program that provides support to students who want to go to college but may not have the grades or the support at home because they will be a first generation college student. AVID gives these students the tools they need to be successful in rigorous courses in middle school and beyond.
AVID sounds like it can help me! How do I get into AVID?
Each spring, HCMS recruits potential AVID students. Any rising 6th, 7th or 8th grade [for the upcoming school year] student that is interested in joining AVID must complete an application to be considered. Once the applications are reviewed, each student will be interviewed. Based upon these two items as well as teacher recommendations, our AVID site team will determine which students would benefit from the AVID program.
Complete this year's AVID application and email it to Ms. Gamber (email@example.com). If you have questions about AVID, you may contact Mrs. Miles or Ms. Gamber.
*****ATTENTION!!!!***** HCMS Families: Are you interested in supporting our students and being paid? Are you a current college student or do you have an Associates Degree or Teaching Degree?
