• Athletic Director's Message

First, I would like to say that I am honored to serve as the athletic director here at Northside High School. Here at Northside we strive to achieve excellence in academic athletics. Our focus is to develop these young student athletes into productive citizens for the community and society.

The guiding principle behind Northside High School’s excellence in athletics is our belief in its educational value for our students. Northside High School athletics promotes character traits of high value, personal development, and success beyond high school. These traits include the drive to take one’s talents to the highest level of performance; embracing the discipline needed to reach high standards; learning to work with others as a team in pursuit of a common goal; and adherence to codes of fairness and respect. Our athletic programs play an important role in creating a sense of community within Northside High School.

Northside High School Athletic department clearly defines expectations both on the field and off. In the name of excellence, Northside athletes and coaches aim for a level of athletic performance that will frequently produce winning seasons and the realistic opportunity to compete for team or individual championships. Our expectation is that Northside athletes are students first, that they pay careful attention to their academic record and motivation, and that they take advantage of the rigors of Northside’s educational programs.

The Northside High School Athletic Department is also committed to the physical and emotional well-being of student-athletes and to the social development of the whole person. We recognize that great demands are placed on students who participate in high school athletics, and we are committed to providing support to help them manage these demands and get the most out of their high school experience. In addition, athletes are expected to adhere to a level of conduct that brings credit to themselves and Northside High School. Thus, athletes must uphold the values of citizenship and service on and off the fields, courts, and track. Northside High School’s athletic programs are composed of recognized sports of various levels of competency that meet the needs, interests, and abilities of male and female students. Thus, in view of the health and educational value of athletics, in addition to varsity programs, Northside High School will continue to try to provide rich opportunities for various participation levels of all sports. Each sport will provide individual exercise and recreation that encourage balance and a healthy lifestyle.

Ultimately, the goal of the Northside High School Athletic program is to engage the mind and body of its athletes while making a conscious effort to enhance the culture of Northside High School and the Northside community which surrounds it. Best of luck on a healthy and successful academic and athletic year.
