Degrees and Certifications:
I am a graduate of Mars Hill University and have been teaching art at the Elementary level for three years this year. I look forward to my 4th year of teaching during the 2019-2020 school year. My love for the visual arts began when I was very young and I have focused my time and skills since to grow in my ability to make and teach. I was born in upstate New York, but have spent the majority of my life around the Topsail Beach area of North Carolina. I graduated from Dixon High School.
My philosophy on the Arts stems from the belief that all children, and even adults, need an outlet for stress relief and a time to create and be creative. In my classroom students will learn to be creative, think critically, make choices, and have fun. We also get messy and learn about being conservative and considerate of time management and what or how much supplies they are using. I hold all children to high standards in my classroom. We have fun, but I believe I am not just teaching them about art. I am also teaching them to be a human being, a well rounded one at that, so that they may become contributing members of society one day.
