Welcome to OVSS!  I moved to NC in August 2018 after teaching Social Studies and English in Colombia (hablo español).  Before I became a teacher, I worked for a land surveying company in Madison, WI and I am crazy about maps!  I enjoy traveling, camping, playing in the ocean, and being outdoors with my family whenever possible.

Essentially, my teaching style and philosophy is that we're all in this together- exploring, learning, growing and improving together as a class, and as a school.  Skills that are emphasized include peer collaboration, independent-thinking, and articulating clear & cohesive ideas (through speaking and writing practice).

8th Grade Social Studies is focused on US History from pre-colonization to the 21st century.  The class also includes NC geography and financial literacy.  Our class explores the identity & role of the US, and how it has evolved throughout its history.
