My name is Kristen Markle. This is my 18th year teaching here in NC! I graduated from West Liberty University in West Liberty, WV in 2005 with a B.A. in Elementary Education. I moved to Goldsboro, NC after graduating and taught kindergarten for 2 years at Brogden Primary School in Dudley, NC. When my husband, George, and I were married in 2007, I moved to Hubert, NC. We have lived in Hubert ever since. I worked at Silverdale Elementary for 12 years, teaching kindergarten and first grade. I worked at Queens Creek Elementary for 4 years, teaching first and third grade. I decided to come back home to Silverdale this year. I have always loved the people and community that SDES has, and I am a strong supporter of The Leader in Me program. The culture at Silverdale is one that is not found everywhere! I will be teaching 3rd grade this year and it will be my fourth year in third grade. I am a proud wife and mother as well! My husband and I have been best friends since we were teenagers and have been happily married for 16 years. We have 2 amazing children, George 12 and Kailyn 9. Kailyn will be in fourth grade at Silverdale this year and George is now in 7th grade at Swnasboro Middle School. Both love school and are enjoying every minute of it! We also have a husky named Remington. He keeps us busy and on our toes!  I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I strive every day to challenge each student and create a love for learning in each one of them. I truly believe that there is a leader in each one of my students!
