Mrs. Sallie Durand

Hello Pirate Families,

My name is Sallie Durand. I am a married with two amazing children, ages 8 and 10. After graduation from East Carolina University (GO pirates!), I taught in Greenville for 6 years. Starting a family of my own made me realize how much I longed to return to my hometown of Newport. While my children were young, I wanted to spend as much time with them as possible, so I substitute taught for 6 years in Carteret County. This is my 5th year as a Swansboro Pirate and I am excited to start another year with my Pirate family. Empowering young minds to take ownership of their learning and reach their fullest potential is the reason I love teaching. And if I can do it while singing and having fun, well that is even better!
