Dr. Patrick Curley

I am pleased to return to Onslow County Learning Center and am looking forward to working with parents, students, staff and community leaders to provide quality science learning opportunities to our students.

 I retired from the Marine Corps in 1996 as a GySgt (0369). After retirement, I owned a photography studio in Swansboro and the spent 5 years as a professional Boy Scout executive.  I started teaching in Onslow County Schools in 2002 and have served in Hunters Creek Middle School, Swansboro Middle, OCLC and 5 years at the central office as an instructional coach.  I left Onslow County Schools in 2013 and have working as the Director of The Science House and as an adjunct assistant professor at the NCSU Center for Marine Sciences and Technology in Morehead City. I rejoined the OCLC staff on 1 October 2019.

My educational research interests are Place Based Education, Project Based Education, Open Ended Learning and Hands-On Enviromental Citizen Science programs.

I am very active in the community where I am involved in Scouting, the Marine Corps League, and Rotary International

I am married to Nancy Curley who works in Onslow County Schools and have two daughters, Megan who works for Carteret County Schools and Erin who lives and works in New Bern.

Interests and Hobbies:  Rotary International, Scouting, Veterans Programs, Environmental Based, Youth Citizen Science programs, Fly Fishing, Youth Fishing Program Instruction
