Degrees and Certifications:
I grew up in a United States Marine Corp family! Although I traveled to many exciting places, North Carolina is my home! I feel that growing up in a military family helps me to understand the many students I've taught over the years who also are part of military families. I am grateful to my parents for providing such an interesting childhood.
I attended the majority of my school years in Onslow County schools. My school years started out in first grade at Clyde Erwin Elementary. I even attended Bell Fork for a short period of time! I am a graduate of Jacksonville High School and East Carolina University.
I am married to an avid hunter/fisherman. Through him I have actually learned to enjoy fishing and watching outdoor programs. I have two healthy, smart and beautiful daughters. My oldest daughter is a Communications graduate from ECU. My youngest daughter attends East Carolina University and will graduate in May 2017 with degrees in both History & Religous Studies. They are truly the blessings of my life and I am most thankful for them. They are my two greatest accomplishments!
My favorite education quote is by Ralph Waldo Emerson- "The secret in education lies in respecting the student." I pride myself on getting to know my students and respecting them for who they are. I have had the wonderful joy and blessing of teaching many of the most wonderful children I could ever imagine. They have brought much joy to my heart and have managed to teach me many new things over the past couple of decades!! I look forward to a few more years of teaching at Bell Fork Elementary!
