Mrs. Irene Marley
I received my Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University in 2000 and my Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction from Appalachian State University in 2003. In 2003, we were stationed in Hinesville and I taught 6th grade ELA, Social Studies and Science. We transferred to Fairbanks, Alaska, where I served as the Regional Director for Adult Basic Education. I helped adults achieve their high school diploma, which was the most rewarding experience of my career. I had the opportunity to learn about the culture of the Athabascan Alaska Native Nation. Upon my husband's retirement, we moved back to Onslow County, where we have been since 2010. In Onslow County, I have taught math and/or science at Swansboro Middle, Hunters Creek Middle and Hunters Elementary. In 2015, I became an Instructional Coach for Onslow County. I assisted teachers with their instruction and classroom management at Dixon Middle, Dixon High, White Oak High, Jacksonville Commons Middle and Parkwood Elementary. In 2019 I returned to the classroom because my passion is in math instruction and I enjoy helping students find their strengths in math! This year I am BACK teaching 6th grade math and science at Hunters Creek Middle School.
