Mrs. King

Hey everyone - my name is Mrs. King & I want you to know that I love art!  I have been teaching art for over 17 years to students of all ages-- PreK-12th grade (including some adults along the way).  I began my teaching career at The Montgomery School in PA (private PreK-8 school).  I also taught in Pender county for 14 years between Topsail Middle School & Surf City Middle School.  Two years ago I taught art at White Oak High School grades 9-12 including Art 1; Sculpture & Ceramics; Folk & Global Art.  

Last year I taught high school art at Onslow Virtual School for grades 9-12.

This year I am going back to where it all starts Kindergarten to 5th grade.  I am very excited to work with your children this year at OVES.

A little about me...

My home studio on Topsail Island is where I get creative & where I will be teaching from online this year!  I get a lot of creative ideas from working with kids & searching for new & exciting projects.  I don't like to repeat the same old thing year after year.  I often do the same projects that I give students just to keep things fresh.  My artwork is displayed around the Topsail Island area where I live.  My artist website is "Topsail Island Art - Dana King" https://danaking.squarespace.com/.

I live in Surf City - Topsail Island, NC with my husband Bob and our two goldendoodles Belle and Barney!  My husband is a retired PE/Health & Social Studies teacher from Pender County Schools.  We both love going to the beach and playing with our dogs.  I also love paddleboarding in the marsh; plants & flowers, animals; and creating art inspired by nature.
