Ms. Nicole Wittenborn
Hello Families!
For those of you that are new to Southwest High School, my name is Ms. Nicole Wittenborn. This is my fourth year at SWH and year 5.5 teaching. I was an EC teacher’s assistant for 5 years. I then taught one semester of K-2 resource and inclusion. I was then asked to teach a K-5 General separate setting class for a year. Southwest HS felt like “home” from my first day!!
Prior to working in the public-school system, I was a preschool teacher and then Director of a child development center here in Onslow County. I worked for the same center for 9 years. I have my AAS in Early Childhood, my BA in Social Sciences with an education concentration, and my Master's in Education- Special Education with a concentration in low-incidence disabilities. I am licensed to teach Adaptive and General curriculum for grades K-12 as well as Severely/Profound Disabled.
I am originally from a small town in southern Illinois and moved to Jacksonville in 2000. I lived in Hawaii for 2 years and moved back in 2009. I am a single mom to four amazing daughters, Maddy (21- senior year at UNC-CH), Macensi (19- sophomore year at ECU), Morgan (17- senior at SWH), and Abby (13- 8th grade at SWM). I also have two fur-babies, Chewy and Piper and two grandpupies, Sammy and Benny.
I am looking forward to being your child’s teacher this year. I believe that if we work together as a team, we can make this a successful year for your student. I can be reached via phone 910-455-4888, email nicole.wittenborn@onslow.k12.nc.us student communication log, or through Remind.
