Ms. Nicole Wittenborn
Hello Families!
For those of you that are new to Southwest High School, my name is Ms. Nicole Wittenborn. This will be my fifth year year at SWH and year 6.5 teaching. I started out as an EC TA for five years and then taught one semester of K-2 resource and inclusion. I was then asked to teach a K-5 General separate setting class for a year. Southwest HS felt like “home” from my first day!!
Prior to working in the public-school system, I was a preschool teacher and then Director of a child development center here in Onslow County. I worked for the center for 9 years. I have my AAS in Early Childhood, my BA in Social Sciences with an education concentration, and my Master's in Special Education with a concentration in low-incidence disabilities. I am licensed to teach Adaptive and General curriculum for grades K-12 as well as Severely/Profound Disabled.
I am originally from a small town in southern Illinois and moved to Jacksonville in 2000. I lived in Hawaii for 2 years and moved back in 2009. I am a single mom to four amazing daughters, Maddy (22- NICU nurse @ UNC-CH), Macensi (20- junior at ECU), Morgan (18- freshman at UNC-W), and Abby (14- freshman at SWHS). I also have two fur-babies, Chewy and Piper and two grandpuppies, Sammy and Benny.
I am looking forward to being your child’s teacher this year. I believe that if we work together as a team, we can make this a successful year for your student. I can be reached via phone 910-455-4888, email nicole.wittenborn@onslow.k12.nc.us student communication log, or through Remind.
