Hello! I am your Career Development Coordinator for Southwest High School. I will be working with you on what you want to do after high school, what you can be doing towards that now, and how you can go on job shadows and take advantage of internship opportunities.
After graduating from Southwest High School in 1998, I went to Coastal Carolina Community College and East Carolina University. I have had quite a few occupations that led me to where I am today, I guess you could classify them as before having children and after having children! Before I had kids, I worked in all kinds of professions, the most interesting probably being as an Environmental Health Specialist (Health Inspector). After moving around with my husband, a Marine, and starting a family, my first position back in my hometown was as a Teacher’s Assistant with Onslow County Schools. Soon after, I got my license to teach Family and Consumer Sciences, and I fell in love with the idea of being able to work with students more closely to figure out what career path they want to take after high school. Flash forward to today, and I am so excited to be back at my home high school as your Career Development Coordinator! I look forward to working with all of you. Please know that you don’t have to be in a Career and Technical Education class to talk to me and plan your path! I am here to help all Stallions!!!
