• COLT CALL 05/24/21

Good Evening Parents, students, and staff,

This is Joycelyn Cassidy, with your Colt Call for the week of 5.24 to 5.28.

Effective Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, students will be engaged in their End of Grade testing.  Tuesday, students will take their Math or Math 1 assessment.  Wednesday students will take their Reading assessment, and Thursday, 8th grade with take their Science assessment.  Parents, please be aware that NC DPI has specific guidelines and safety protocols in place during testing.  Students will be asked to turn in their electronic devices which includes phones, smartwatches or any other similar device to the teacher prior to testing.  Once the test is completed and turned in, the teacher will return the device.

Please discuss this protocol with your students.  It is preferred that students leave these types of devices at home on testing days.  Failure to relinquish a device that causes a disruption during the test shall result in a testing irregularity that may result in students retesting again.  The only items students will need on testing days is their laptop and charger.  Students do not need to bring anything else to the campus.  Students will be released early on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, May 25-27.  If your child will not be riding the bus home, transportation arrangements will need to be made.  School will be released at approximately 12:05.

On testing mornings, students need to be on campus no later than 7:30 to begin testing.  Any student that is late or absent will have to make up their test after May 27.

Parents, if your child has medications at school and will not be attending summer school, please make arrangements to pick up your child’s medication on or before the last day of school, 5/28.  Medication can NOT be carried home by the student.  The last day to pick up meds will be Tuesday, June 1 by 1:00 pm.  School policy prohibits storing medication over the summer.  The medication will be discarded if not picked up by this date and time.  Updated medication forms are required for every school year and can be picked up in the front office.

Shout out to 3 of our SWM Art students whose pieces have been selected to be displayed at the Airport Art show.  They are 8th grader Ciara Mace; 7th grader Kyley Hansley and 6th grader Adriana Miller.  Way to go students!!

Parents, along with our Adventures Summer School, SWM will be offering 2 non-instructional camps for students of SWM.  The first camp is a STEM Camp and the second camp is a basketball fundamentals camp.  Information will be posted on the website.  Students can pick up a registration form from the front office.  The registration form must be signed by a parent and turned in by Tuesday, 5/25.

    Mark Your Calendar:
