OCS magnet schools offer students and parents the chance to explore the many educational opportunities available in our district including language immersion, rigorous arts and STEM curriculum, virtual learning, advanced technology, and more.
Entry into the New Bridge Middle, Clyde Erwin Elementary, Northwoods Elementary, and Onslow County Virtual School magnet school lotteries are available to enrollment-eligible children of all Onslow County residents or in accordance with the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children.
The Onslow County Schools Magnet School Lottery Application for the 2025-2026 school year has now closed.
Magnet School Lottery Selections will take place on Friday, March 21, 2025.
Applicants will be notified of their status via email as well as through their dashboard.

Clyde Erwin Elementary Magnet School of International Studies and Cultural Arts
Grades K-5
Please note that at Clyde Erwin Elementary Magnet (CEEM) there are two options. Some lottery slots are available in Spanish Language Immersion Classrooms and there are some slots available in traditional classroom settings. An applicant may put their child's name in the lottery for a Spanish Language Immersion slot, a traditional slot, or both.
Northwoods Elementary Magnet School of Technology and Innovation
Grades K-5
The focus of Northwoods Elementary Magnet School (NWEM) is on using a variety of technology to engage in Project Based Learning.
For students in grades 6-8 at New Bridge Middle School (NBM), there is a focus on STEAM content and skills. STEAM emphasizes science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
Onslow Virtual School is a full-time online Onslow County public school. The school partners with parents, who have students in grades 2-12, to provide an engaging, high-quality education in a remote learning environment.
Students who are not currently enrolled in OVS and wish to attend OVS for the 2025-26 school year must apply through the lottery process.
- Students are required to have a dedicated, full-time learning coach.
- Students must reside in Onslow County or be eligible to attend Onslow County Schools through the out-of-county approval process.

Application to the Onslow Virtual School will follow the same procedures described in the video above. Simply select "Virtual School 2025-2026" as your magnet school choice. Entrance into the Virtual School lottery is dependent upon qualifying academic and attendance criteria described above.
Entrance into the Clyde Erwin DLI lottery in grades two through five may require additional information.
