Parent Involvement

Parent Participation- A Continuum

The continuum of participation refers to the varying degrees and forms of involvement that parents can have in their children’s overall education, school and classroom.   The continuum ranges from one-way communication that is more passive for parents to true dialog through partnerships and decision making.  Whether passive or active, all forms of participation have a place in a healthy home/school relationship.

  2. Collaborative opportunities in which the parent is present, involved or spectating. The parent is more directly interacting with the school community.
  3. Full engagement in which the family and the school are working together to support teaching and learning of either an individual student or a group of students/the student body.
