PSAT/NMSQT and ACT for Juniors
Juniors are reminded to continue preparing for two major exams: PSAT/NMSQT and ACT. The PSAT/NMSQT is a practice SAT exam that is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. This test can not only qualify students to be National Merit Scholars, but also other scholarships as well. The PSAT is scheduled for January 26th.Juniors will take the ACT on February 23rd. All NC Juniors are required by the Department of Public Instruction to take the the ACT for high school accountability. Students also need to to take the ACT for college admission to most colleges and universities. This is a very important test!

School Cash Online
-
Given the ongoing concerns over COVID-19, OCS continues to look for ways to improve convenience for our families and institute practices which will reduce the risk of transmission of the virus. To do this, the district will be providing our school community the option of a new online payment system, School Cash Online. This system will minimize cash and check payments at our schools and allow parents to make online payments from home.
Through School Cash Online, parents can pay registration fees, course fees, field trips, yearbooks, spirit wear, athletic fees and more!
Parents who use School Cash Online have the ability to:
- Keep track of their child's school items and activity fees.
- Stay connected by receiving email notifications of new fees.
- Check their account history.
- View and print receipts.
- Pay for school fees any time, anywhere, with a simple click.
- Easily link and access all students in a household.
- Make payments using Visa or Mastercard.
Click here School Cash Online to pay your child's fees online!
The School Cash Online service will not replace the current system we have in place to prepay for your student's meal accounts. Pre-Payment for student meal accounts can be made here (link opens in a new window): Student Meal Account Pre-Payment Options

Class Rings
Ring order information from Jostens was sent home via The Owl back in early March. Mr. Overby (Jostens representative) also met with any students at lunch (in early March) that wanted more information. Unfortunately, everyone had the stay-at-home order from the Governor before we could accept paper order forms. Those that ordered online were still able to order class rings.
Jostens has opened their link to our school's ordering site, so students can order class rings again. Click here to order! Hopefully, Mr. Overby will be able to make an in-person visit later in the school year. In the meantime, the Jostens office is open for business 9:00-4:00 (Monday through Friday) to answer questions that kids and families may have. Their office number is 910-675-3886.
You can go to our school's class ring store site below and order online. It takes approximately 6-8 weeks for the ring to be shipped to your house. Remember, this is optional, but we wanted to make it possible for students that would like to have a class ring!
