Superintendent Barnes' Leadership Priorities
As part of the interview process, I presented six leadership priorities to the Board which will help OCS meet the district's vision of Excellence in Education. These priorities will help guide the work of the Board, the district's Executive Staff and other leaders.
- Prioritize effective instruction: Provide high-quality, core instruction as captured by the OCS Instructional Framework. Every Student, Every Classroom, Every Day.
- Uphold the culture of continuous improvement: Participate in the longstanding practice of strategic planning involving the PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) cycle. Plan the work and work the plan.
- Build internal capacity: Invest in training, coursework, and resources to enhance the skills and credentials of students, parents, educators, and staff members. Grow our own.
- Leverage parent and community support: Create effective partnerships to enhance student outcomes and strengthen our local public schools. We Love OCS.
- Inspire innovation and opportunities: Encourage creativity and provide opportunities that prepare students for a successful future. Enrollment, Enlistment, Employment.
- Create safe and secure learning environments: Support comprehensive measures and practices that promote safety and well-being. Safety is a team effort.
