It is my honor to work every day with the students here at White Oak High School. My goal is to assist by addressing the developmental needs of all students through a comprehensive school counseling program in the areas of academics, career and personal/social development.

I have been a school counselor at White Oak High since February, 2013. Before coming to work at White Oak High School, I was a Middle School Counselor for 5 ½ years. My other related work experience includes 18 ½ years at New Hanover County Department of Social Services as a Social Worker III.

My educational background includes obtaining my BA in Sociology with a concentration in Social Work from North Carolina Central University. I have a Masters of Art degree in School Counseling from North Carolina Central University and completed some of my graduate work at The University of North Carolina Wilmington. I have earned certifications in School Counseling and Career Counseling.

My hobbies include spending time with my wonderful family, reading, sports and participating in church activities. It is my passion and love for helping families that help drive me to be the best school counselor I can each and every day. Please feel free to call or email me with your concerns as we work together to build a bright future for every student who attends White Oak High School.

Ms. Julie Church

Counselor (H-O)

My name is Julie Church and I am pumped to be one of the counselors at White Oak this year! I have lived in North Carolina for my entire life. I am originally from Asheboro, NC (where the zoo is), but have lived in Onslow County since 2017.

I've worked in education for 9 years as a 3rd grade teacher, 4th grade teacher, AIG Specialist, and now as a school counselor. All of my degrees I received from East Carolina University (GO PIRATES 💜💛☠️!!).

In my free time, I enjoy working out, reading thrillers, spending the day at the beach, traveling to new places, shopping, and hanging out with my dogs, Gunner & Bruce.

My goal as a school counselor is to provide comprehensive and compassionate support to students, empowering them to navigate academic, personal, and social challenges with confidence and resilience. By fostering a safe and inclusive environment, I aim to facilitate open communication, deliver relevant resources, and offer guidance that nurtures their holistic development. Through collaboration with students, parents, and school staff, I strive to inspire self-discovery, academic achievement, and lifelong skills that prepare our students to thrive in their educational journey and beyond.
