2022 Governor's School Celebration
Being selected to attend the North Carolina Governor’s School is a great honor, and this year, Onslow County Schools has 13 students who will participate.
Governor’s School is a multi-week summer residential program for gifted and talented high school students, during which they are given immersive learning experiences in a discipline of their choice. The goal of this opportunity is not grades, but the exploration of ideas and concepts.
Each year, NC Governor’s School accepts up to 335 students to attend each of its two campuses: East Campus and West Campus. Governor’s School East is hosted by Meredith College in Raleigh, and Governor’s School West is hosted by Winston-Salem State University.
On Tuesday, April 26, selectees from Onslow County for the 2022 Governor’s School session had the opportunity to come together, meet former participants, and learn more about their adventurous summer ahead.
Participants from Governor's School 2021, who are now seniors in OCS, not only shared their experiences with the new selectees, but were presented with cords to wear at their upcoming graduations. The cords will identify them as OCS Governor's School representatives as they walk across the stage to receive their diplomas.
Congratulations to all selected to represent Onslow County Schools in the 2022 session of NC Governor’s School! We are proud of the work you have done to get here, and we are excited to see where this opportunity takes you.
