Community Celebrates CVES Dedication

On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, OCS had the pleasure of hosting a dedication ceremony for the new Clear View Elementary School.

The Onslow County Board of Education and Board of Commissioners came together, alongside school staff and community members, to cut the ribbon and officially mark the opening of the county’s newest education facility.

Dr. Barry Collins, OCS superintendent, spoke at the dedication ceremony and thanked the Willis family for donating the land the school is built on and thanked the county commissioners for their willingness to work together for the benefit of Onslow County children.

CVES is opening a full year ahead of schedule due to the Board of Education and commissioners working together to move up the timeline in response to community needs.

“The vision and the leadership of our school board and our county commissioners, and the relationship that we have, is tremendous,” Collins said.

CVES, located at 180 Clear View School Road, will serve those in both the Southwest and Richlands communities, with its orange and blue school colors showing both Stallion and Wildcat pride.

Commissioner Tim Foster, who recently retired from being the principal of Southwest High, spoke on behalf of the Board of Commissioners and expressed how important milestones like the opening of schools are to the community.

“We appreciate it when the community comes together to support our education in Onslow County,” he said, “because the only thing that’s going to maintain our future is providing a solid, quality education for our children.”

CVES will welcome its first Cubs on Monday, August 29!
