On Monday, February 5, Clear View Elementary School made official its partnership with Wounded Warrior Battalion East.
This partnership was forged through the Adopt-a-School program, which promotes mutually beneficial relationships between the military and schools by allowing military units to “adopt” a school. Units support schools through volunteering at school events, test monitoring, providing mentorship, and more. Schools can show their support for their unit during the holidays and during times of deployment.
Clear View Elementary School Principal Denise Gartner said, “We are so excited to be able to partner with Wounded Warrior Battalion East. It’s a great opportunity for the Marines and sailors there to come and work with our students, but also, it’s an opportunity for our students.”
LtCol Laura Perazzola shared that, “when we first heard about this opportunity, the Marines jumped on it. They were so excited to be able to contribute to the local community.
“Quite honestly, the Marines are just excited to do really anything and everything. The sky’s the limit with this partnership.”
Onslow County Schools was named a Purple Star District last year for its exceptional efforts in fostering a positive, supportive environment for our military families. We could not do this without the cooperation and partnership of our local military community, so thank you to all who make these relationships possible!
