On March 7, students from across the c-o-u-n-t-y participated in the annual district-wide e-l-e-m-e-n-t-a-r-y spelling bee. Eighteen students from the district’s elementary schools competed in a total of 21 rounds to test their spelling abilities and vie for the gold.

After many rounds of words that challenged and tested the contestants, it came down to Isaiah Burgess from Morton Elementary and Tyler Schulz from Silverdale Elementary. In the end, Tyler Schulz took the win after correctly spelling the winning word: “straightened.” Isaiah took second place and Cody Austin, of Queens Creek Elementary, came in third. Congratulations to the winners and a job well done to all who participated!
