OCS Chief Financial Officer Receives Award

Chief Financial Officer Jeff Hollamon

Jeff Hollamon, Associate Superintendent and CFO of Onslow County Schools, was honored Friday, March 29, as the 2019 Raymond Sarbaugh Leadership Award recipient at NCASA's annual Conference on Educational Leadership in Raleigh.

The award is given annually to a member or members who have shown outstanding leadership in public school service as well as commitment to enhancing and supporting the efforts of the association on behalf of his or her fellow school administrators. The award is named for NCASA's first full-time and longest-serving executive director, the late Raymond Sarbaugh.

NCASA Executive Director Katherine Joyce noted, “Throughout his career, Jeff has been an active advocate working to improve funding for educational opportunities for all North Carolina students and weighing in on important regulatory and policy discussions impacting school business operations. He has taken a leadership role in interactions with the Joint Legislative Task Force on Education Finance Reform, the Governor's Commission on Access to a Sound Basic Education, a working group to make recommendations on resolving school facility funding disputes, and on several key finance and personnel issues at the Departments of Public Instruction and State Treasurer. He also has been a strong proponent of competitive compensation and benefits for teachers, administrators, and support staff and eagerly assisted NCASA in our efforts to develop strategies for improving principals' and assistant principals' pay. He is a leader among school leaders, and we are appreciative of his dedication and involvement."

Prior to joining Onslow County Schools as CFO in 2002, Mr. Hollamon worked with Moore County Schools and Vance County Schools in financial and business services, beginning his career in North Carolina public education in 1995. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a licensed CPA. Mr. Hollamon has served for several years on the Board of Directors and as a President of NCASA and the NC Alliance for School Leadership Development. For nearly 20 years, he has continuously served in various officer or committee chairman positions for the NC Association of School Business Officials, where he is currently serving as president.

Congratulations, Mr. Jeff Hollamon, on this outstanding honor!
