OCS Superintendent Dr. Barry Collins is pleased to announce the OCS Board of Education’s approval of Dr. CJ Korenek as the new Chief of Human Resources and Student Services. Korenek’s hire fills a vacancy created when Collins stepped into the role of OCS Superintendent on March 1.
Dr. Korenek has over 29 years of experience in public education, all with Onslow County Schools. She began her educational career in 1989 as a teacher at Clyde Erwin Elementary School. From there, Korenek moved into district level administration serving as personnel supervisor, staff development coordinator, human resources director, and executive director of human resources.
Dr. Korenek’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Grove City College, and master’s degrees in education from East Carolina University and in educational leadership from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She went on to earn a doctorate in educational leadership from East Carolina University.
Korenek and her husband reside in the Dixon community. They have three children, all of whom attend or have attended Onslow County Schools.
