LEADing the way to Literacy

Ms. Wilmoth received a Donor's Choose grant to start a Little Free Library program.

According to her grant proposal:

This project gives my AIG students the opportunity to serve their community. Students will work together to build the little libraries that will be placed within close proximity to the school and surrounding community. Students will run a book drive at the school so that the library can be stocked. Not only will students provide books, but they will include a book review using a QR code that people who visit the library can scan to see what the book is about. This project will teach them the benefit of serving the community and provide them opportunities to enrich their literacy skills.

Using the library kits, purchased through the Donors Choose program, students worked together with  our custodians and maintenance crew to construct them. They are working on filling the them with books before being placed in the community.
