• Principal's Message March 18 - 22, 2019

Good Afternoon Parents, students, and staff,
This is Joycelyn Cassidy, principal of SWM, with our Colt call for the week of  March 18 to March 22.  Any information shared in this message will also be posted on the school website.

Beginning Monday, March 18, laptops will be collected schoolwide to be reconfigured.  They will quickly be returned to the students within the week.  Students, please remember to charge your device fully each night.  A fully charged device will enable the Technicians a faster turn-around when working on the device.

The 8th Grade will attend the Onslow County CTE Showcase on Tuesday.  Students need to return their permission form in order to participate.  This is the first step in looking at the instructional programs offered at the high school level.

We have one final meeting for parents whose child is interested in trying out for any of the remaining sports teams for the 2018-2019 school year.  The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 20; 5:30 in the café.  This is the final meeting of the year for Volleyball, Girls Soccer, Wrestling, track and baseball.  The next sport season is Volleyball and Baseball.

The District spelling bee is scheduled for Thursday, March 21, here at SWM.  Please come out to support our Grace Carr and Emily Rice as they compete against the other middle finalists.

Spirit Week begins Friday, March 22 to Thursday, March 28.  The activities for the week include:
Friday, March 22- “America Day” show your patriotism by wearing Red, white and Blue
Monday- Disney Day.  Dress and celebrate your favorite Disney Character
    Tuesday- Twin Day
Wednesday – Show your Awareness and the hopes of a cure for Breast Cancer by wearing pink, for Lupus by wearing purple and support for our Military Troops by wearing yellow.  Each grade level will have a different platform and designated colors.  We will also have a Pep Rally to motivate our teams for the last 2 games of the season
    Thursday- Black and Orange day.

In addition, cheerleaders will be hosting a hat day on Friday, March 29.  For $1.00 you can purchase a sticker and wear your favorite hat all day.

The second set of benchmarks begin at the end of March.  Parents please encourage your child to do their very best for these assessments.

    Mark Your Calendar:
    •    We travel to HCMS on Thursday, March 21.  Game time is 4:00 and admission is $4.00.
    •    The next PBIS celebration is scheduled for April 5th.

Parents, this is a reminder about the parent survey and ask that you please take a moment to complete the brief 8 question survey.  You can access the link via the school website or you can complete it when you stop by the office.  Help SWM be a positive influence for your child.

This ends our Colt call for this week.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  Good-bye
